Landing No21: One More Stripe


Hellooo fashion travellers! It's a new day today sooo.... let's land in fashion!




Today we are landing in stripe-world.. That's why I got dressed in this dress!
Did you know that striped cloth was once a controversial religious garment not unlike the burqa today?



According to the book The Devil's Cloth, a few striped-clad monks called the Carmelites moved from Palestine to Paris where they were ridiculed and jeered. They were accused of greed, hypocrisy and treachery and even seen as the henchmen for the devil and the Antichrist. All these for their stripes????

Fortunately over time, disgust with stripes does no longer exist.. Actually  exactly the opposite.. Vivienne Westwood, Paul & Joe, Dolce & Gabbana, Dior, Acne and Marc Jacobs for example made stripes the fashion trend for Spring 2013!  Luckily we can wear stripes fearlessly..

    That is a very interesting little history lesson! I never knew that. Stripes look great on you and adore that dress. I think I saw it in H&M a little bit ago (or something similar) but never purchased .. kind of regretting that because it looks great!
